Sprint 2


Sprint 2:

Wk 4:  09/10/23 - 15/10/23

This week I mainly worked on building the basic city map, the usage of items as well as learn the basics of how to manipulate the partical system. Not much physically was done as it was mainly research.

Wk 5: 16/10/23 - 22/10/23

I wasn’t able to make much progress this week as I was working for a majority of it. However I was able to work on the item throwing mechanic which’ll be used to find the danger areas of an anomaly. However unfortunitly a major bug has reared its head, the player is unable to pickup an item after throwing it. I have 2 ways of being able to treat it though. The first way is pretty scummy being that once an item is thrown it despawns after a certain amount of time. This prevents item reusability and just overall punishes the player for using a core mechanic. On the other hand I can attempt to fix it properly however I expect I’ll have to use pointers but I honostly forgot how to use them…

Wk 6: 23/10/23 - 29/10/23

Written Sunday morning: Working most of the week again but I was able to fix the throwing item bug as well as created what I call a crusher anomaly which acts as a whirlpool, it spins the player pretty fast which dorients the player allowing for the anomaly to cause more damage to the player if they are unable to exit it fast enough. Some basic menus were also created for player mobility and game coherency. Originally I intended for music and the sound system to be implemented by now however with the time limitations I pushed it back to week 7 (Sprint 3). Also I worked on bug fixing as I wanted to get the game to a playable state before end of sprint/player feedback.
